Chip Card can store encrypted and confidential information, making them more secure than magnetic stripe card and more difficult to be counterfeited. Customer transactions are being encrypted with protection keys stored in the chip, also more authentication is required for a transaction, therefore enhancing the overall security level.

How to use the Chip Card?
A:
The usage of Chip Card is very similar to that of a magnetic stripe card. Merchants with upgraded terminals that are capable of processing information stored within the chip, will insert the Chip Card into the terminal instead of swiping it. The card will be kept at the cashier until the sales slip is printed.

Can I use ATM function with my Chip Card?

You can continue to use these functions with your Chip Card and your existing PIN will also remain the same if your Card is a renewal Card.

Can I use Chip Card for mail, phone or Internet orders?
A:
Certainly. The procedure will be the same as using magnetic stripe card.

What if a merchant asks for PIN verification during a purchase?
A:
Cardholders are NEVER required to disclose the PIN for verification during a purchase. Cardholders ONLY need to sign on the sales slips to confirm the transactions as usual.

How to avoid damage to the Chip Card?

Your Chip Card is rarely damaged under normal situation. However, you should NEVER test it with a magnet or detach the chip from the card, and please avoid putting it together with keys and/or coins which may scratch the card.

What if my Chip Card is damaged?

Please contact BCM bank for a replacement card. In the meantime, you can continue to use the card because transactions can still be processed by swiping the magnetic stripe.
